SMALL ENGINE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Responsible for determining needed repairs and/or replacements on small engine equipment.

Ensure the availability of equipment in safe operating condition; and providing written documentation of repairs to meet documentation and reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS

  • Maintenance/Repair of small engine equipment including commercial mowers, chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, skid steers, mini excavators, electric & hydraulic sanders and snow plows
  • Ability to train crews to perform field repairs if needed
  • Brakes, oil changes, electrical, etc.
  • Body work and painting on trucks
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Perform all daily shop activities including repairs, administration, organization, scheduling, monitoring, training, warranty repair and evaluation of maintenance and repair services.
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance and repairs on a variety of small engines.
  • Possess the ability to accurately diagnose and correct repairs needed.
  • Provide information on equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • On-call during off duty hours during snow season

SECONDARY ELEMENTS

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.

REQUIREMENTS

3-5 years of small engine/mechanic repair with a full range of technical skills.

  • Must have valid drivers’ license with clean driving record.
  • Have DOT Health card, or the ability to obtain one
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese/English) a plus.
  • Hydraulic license a plus
  • Welding experience a plus.
  • Work independently or with a team.
  • Self-motivated and reliable.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • On-call during off duty hours during snow season

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 lbs. with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear. Job will require constantly working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
