Guide to Qualifying a Snow Contractor
We may be in the heat of summer, but now is the time to secure your snow removal contractor for this upcoming winter. The procurement of a quality snow contractor starts many months prior to the potential threat of any storm. Snow has the ability to impact your business, clients, residents and the general public like nothing else, and you want to partner with a qualified, prepared, trained snow removal expert. Waiting to secure a vendor exposes your organization to risk and liability.
Qualified Snow Removal contractors are busy now securing de-icing materials, equipment, labor and subcontractors for the winter. These resources quickly become scarce and you don't want to be left out in the cold. As a client, you can often leverage the opportunty to gain possible price incentives by securing services early as your vendor secure resources at the best prices early.
By the end of August with contracts in place, your vendor can proceed with site inspections, finalize snow management plans, build service routes, prepare service documentation, plan equipment staging and mobilization, perform preseason safety and operations training. These are all vital steps to insure they are prepared for when mother nature calls. Contracting late in the season is often difficult due to all of the preparation that needs to be performed for proper snow removal execution, and is a lose lose proposition.
